Newton’s Second Law of Motion: The greater the mass of an object, the more force it will take to accelerate the object.(acceleration=force/mass)
Drag: Occurs when air pushes back against a moving object and slows it down. Thrust: The force that moves and object forward or upward and is the opposite of drag and gravity Gravity: The force that attracts a body toward the center of the earth. Force: A push or pull upon an object. Chemical Energy: That part of the energy in a substance that can be released by a chemical reaction Acceleration: Increase in the speed of something |
Procedures:
For this challenge, your child will be launching mini rockets, fueled by alka seltzer tablets. This experiment should be done outside, as it makes a bit of a mess! Safety Caution: Wear goggles, move away when you're ready to set the rocket off, and avoid looking directly at the canister while nearby.
